Sarah Fennel | Founder + Teacher

Hey hey! My name is Sarah, and I'm the creator behind Foodtography School, where I've taught 450 students to improve their food photography through fun and information-packed online courses.

I started my food blog, Broma Bakery, back in 2010 when I was a broke college student looking to bring creativity into her daily life. What was intended as a passion project has since grown into my career. 

Since going full-time with my blog in 2013, I made it my ultimate goal to strengthen my food photography. Rather than double-tapping and commenting the heck out of peoples' photos or joining 10 different share groups, I focused on improving my own food photos. I lived by the adage "content is king," believing that as my food photography improved, the content itself would open doors.

          

I read books, watched videos, and photographed everything I could. And the better I got with food photography, the more opportunities came my way. I began getting deals with companies I had only dreamed I could work with, photographing for national and international brands. To date, my client list includes Sur La Table, Ghirardelli, Chobani, Absolut Vodka, Blue Diamond, Google, Olympus, and Wolf Gourmet. And I strongly believe that I have been able to do this not because of my social reach, page views, or networking skills, but because of the quality of the photos I produce.

When I first started blogging, I reached out to successful bloggers and photographers for help. I'd ask how they grew, what their best advice was for a budding food photographer, and what they believed I should focus my time on. And though they didn't have to, they responded to me openly, taking time out of their busy life to impart their knowledge to me.

I truly owe my career to these people, for spilling their secrets to me, for helping me, and for believing in me. It's because of this that I feel so strongly about helping aspiring food photographers reach their goals. 

...which is why I created Foodtography School. So that I could pass along the knowledge I've gained in the past 8 years of learning food photography. Because we are only strong when we band together.

Foodtography School is more than a course; it's a community of individuals building each other up and helping each other grow. I'm so incredibly proud of the students who have already come through our course, and cannot wait for you to become one of them.

Britt Fusco | Director of Programing

 

Imagine your to do list. Now imagine someone doing it for you. That's what I do. I'm Britt, and I'm the behind the scenes-tech-and-organizing guru for Foodtography School. My background is in online business and internet marketing, and honestly, I'm just here for the amazing pictures of cakes and cookies.

I nerd out about weird things that no one likes: tech. This includes Facebook and Instagram advertising, email campaigns, webinars, content planning, and course design. Did I lose you already? Are you snoring? Overwhelmed? I get that a lot.

My name is often used as noun when people talk about me...as in "I need a Brittany." I think they mean "I need tech help" but at this point, I'm not quite sure.

When I started helping entrepreneurs and business owners scale their online businesses back in 2014, I had no idea I would be helping tens of thousands of students learn through online education.

I help my clients create organizing systems in their business to impact as many lives as possible. I love working with people who love what they do, and I love seeing students like you get results from amazing curators like Sarah.

Shannan Monson | Course Strategist

 

Hey I’m Shan, proud Foodtography Workshop Alumn! I’m a dietitian turned business strategist and I help talented people win at life. Okay fine, mostly just at business.

I first met Sarah at her in-person workshop in Ann Arbor, Michigan and become immediately obsessed with convincing her to turn this 4-day shindig into an online course more people could experience. What can I say? I love the underdog and I love Sarah.

Over the past few years I’ve built a thriving multiple six-figure business doing what I love– sharing what I know and teaching others. Creating, marketing, and selling online courses is my bread and buttah and when I’m not doing it for my own business, I’m teaching other entrepreneurs how to do it, too.

I’m fascinated by psychology – questions like: what’s keeping you up late at night? how does it make you feel? what would it take to convince you to stop wondering “why don’t my food photos get more likes on Insta” and actually do something about it? omg. this is starting to sound like an existential food photo crisis.

But basically, I help Sarah answer your questions before you even have to ask them so you can spend less time wondering why the algorithm hates you and more time WINNING at foodtography.

I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait for you to experience Foodtography School the way it was meant to be experienced–in the comfort of your own living room without having to put on pants. I’m kidding. No I’m not.
